At Standing Stone Coffee Company, we desire to be in community with our neighbor, getting to know the people of Huntingdon and Juniata as well as providing a space for others to get to know each other. As an aspect of this greater mission, we have an annual project entitled “Know Your Neighbor.” Each year during the month of May, our walls are adorned with photos of folks from Huntingdon and Juniata College along with some words about who they are. We ask each person/family/couple the same questions:
- What is your name?
- Where were you born?
- What is your occupation?
- How long have you lived in the Huntingdon/Juniata College community?
- What brought you to the Huntingdon/Juniata College community?
- What do you enjoy about living in the Huntingdon/Juniata College community?
- Outside of work and home, how do you spend your time?
- What in your life is important to you?
- What is a burden you deal with?
- If you could do anything what would you do?
Since we’ve started, we’ve collected over 140 unique and personal stories of our community members. This has been an awesome project, and one of our favorite things to do each year. Stop in next May and get to know your neighbors with us!
