Our roastery is located within our café in Huntingdon, PA. From the very beginning we have been devoted to roasting our own coffee, with the intent to serve our guests only the very best in freshly-roasted beans. In August of 2008 we began with one roaster and have since grown to a four-person roasting team consisting of a Master Roaster, Operations, and two Assistant Roasters. Between the four of us, we roast five to six days a week to insure that our coffee is fresh when our guests or clients receive their orders.
We roast only specialty coffee, meaning that our coffee is the top 1% of all coffee produced in the world – the best of the best, so that when roasted and prepared properly you’ll notice the difference in every cup. A portion of the coffee we receive is certified organic, fair-trade, rain forest alliance or bird-friendly. We work directly with three particular farms to guarantee that environmental and labor practices are up to our standards. The remainder of our coffee comes from an importer who does the legwork for us, but allows for traceability, so we know down to the specific lot where our coffee was grown.
Where does our coffee come from?
We have three direct-trade relationship farms as well as one indirect partnership, which provides traceability and the ability to ensure that each of our coffees are grown sustainably and in alignment with our ethical and environmental standards.
Where can you buy Standing Stone coffee?
In addition to visiting our 1229 Mifflin Street Café or ordering our coffee online, you can find our coffee at several other locations in Huntingdon and surrounding counties.
What kind of training do we offer?
Our wholesale clients will also have access to training for their entire staff free of extra charge. The general public is also invited to join us at our Coffee University series in the shop for $5 per class to learn more about the world of coffee and brewing and cupping techniques.
What brewing equipment should you use?
As a small retailer/roaster we have found that it doesn't really benefit our clients to buy equipment through us, because they can get it cheaper through some larger, typically online retailers. That being said, we can definitely consult with you on your equipment needs, and can make recommendations on what would be the best fit, especially because we're not tied to sell a certain brand name. We can also teach you basic equipment maintenance, and can help troubleshoot your equipment problems as they arise, before you need to call in a service tech.
